John "Cholly" Coghlan

June 4, 1945 — February 21, 2025

Age 79 of White Bear Lake passed on Friday, February 21, 2025.


Born on June 4, 1945 in Minot, ND. John graduated from Alexandria High School in 1963.


He was drafted and served in the Army from 12/1965 until 12/1967 as an MP in Thailand.


 After the Army- he worked in the carnival circuit for a man who owned a food stand (hamburgers, french fries.) He traveled throughout the midwest working at the Minnesota State Fair and county fairs in Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska.


He then worked for a  road construction company in Northern Minnesota  for a few years.


Cholly also worked with his Dad Jim

who had a road construction business in North Dakota.  They later started a company that striped parking lots.


In the winter months he was a bartender at several places in White Bear and Mahtomedi.


He met his wife Bonnie Farrell in July, 1972 and married in September, 1974.

They would've celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this September.


Preceded in death by parents, Jim and Eunice Coghlan,  Inlaws Charles Sr and Nettie Farrell,

Brother- in- law Charles Farrell, Jr, Sister and Brother- in- law Irv and Bette London, nephew and

wife DuWayne and Chris London.



Will be sadly missed by loving Wife of 50 years, Bonnie, siblings Kevin (Cathy) Julie (Bob)

Zetah, Elizabeth Coghlan (Michael Swartz) and 8 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and

nephews.

A memorial service will take place at The Church of Saint Pius X, 3878 Highland Avenue, White

Bear Lake, Minnesota 55110 on Tuesday, March 4th at 11:00 AM, with a visitation an hour prior.

Memorials can be made to any of the following organizations, American Heart Association,

American Lung Association, American Kidney Fund.
